Here in Shanghai confusion reigns, at least it does in my head. There was call from the movers to say that our container had arrived and they are awaiting instructions. This was according to the lady on the hotel switchboard. You must tell the movers what to do now, she explained patiently. I handed her the card that we had received from the letting agent and asked her to call the movers and give them the address and ask for the moving date.
We took a cab across the city - and this is some city - and we were waiting when the movers arrived. Watching the movers at work was quite an experience. There were about 10 of them, and they worked industriously, carrying back and forth, waiting patiently when we couldn’t make up our minds where to place things. These were excellent and professional movers who took their jobs seriously. There was no stopping for coffee or a beer, the movers just kept going.
After 2 hours the container was empty, everything was in position in the apartment and the movers all had satisfied expressions on their faces. I hope to get such movers next time I move.
